STONEHAM — Chief James O’Connor reports that the Stoneham Police Department responded to a report of an assault with a knife at a local gas station on Monday, and later charged a man in connection with the incident.
On Monday, Nov. 20, at 3:11 p.m., Stoneham Police officers were dispatched to BJ’s gas station, 85 Cedar St., for a report of an assault with a knife.
Upon arrival, officers learned that a gas station attendant was threatened by a man who brandished a knife. The suspect then fled in a vehicle.
Witnesses were able to provide a description of the vehicle the suspect fled in, as well as part of its registration number, and police were later able to make contact with a suspect thanks to the detailed description. The suspect later turned himself in to face charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and threatening to commit a crime.
There were no reported injuries.
