Service Lateral Transfer – Full-Time Police Officer
The Stoneham Police Department seeks highly motivated, proactive and community-oriented police officers for lateral transfer to this Department. Applicants must have Civil Service status under Chapter 31 and be eligible for transfer from their current department. Applicants must have successfully completed a MPTC full-time police academy, possess a Massachusetts motor vehicle operator’s license, Massachusetts license to carry firearms, possess solid problem-solving ability, and have strong verbal and written communication skills.
The Town of Stoneham is located 10 miles north of Boston, at the interchange of Routes 93 and 95/128. The Stoneham Police Department has 41 sworn officers serving a population of 24,000 residents.
The current salary for police officers range from $55,675 to $70,403. Other benefits include an educational incentive, $1,200 annual stipend, night shift differential of 6 percent or 7 percent depending upon shift, $900 annual uniform allowance, $200 annual cleaning allowance, 6% specialist pay for certain positions, and $120 weekly senior step pay after 20 years of employment. Health insurance plans are offered through the Massachusetts Group Insurance Commission with an 80/20 percentage split between the Town and employee.
