STONEHAM — Chief James McIntyre is pleased to announce that the Stoneham Police Department has been given a $1,000 donation to support its Community Policing Unit programs.
The donation was received by the Stoneham Police Department on Monday from Cummings Community Giving, an initiative by Cummings Properties to recognize and support communities where employees in its real estate division and its affiliated New Horizons retirement communities live.
The donation was presented to the Stoneham Police Department by William Branco, a Cummings Properties employee who lives in town.
“This was an incredibly kind gesture and we are deeply appreciative of this support and recognition from Cummings Properties,” Chief McIntyre said. “Our Community Policing Unit oversees annual events and initiatives that help our department form positive, rewarding relationships with our community and give back to our residents.”
The Stoneham Police Department’s Community Policing Unit offers several programs throughout the year including the Cops and Kids Fishing Derby, bicycle safety initiatives such as rewarding children “caught” wearing their helmet with a gift certificate to a local eatery or business, child passenger safety seat installations and the annual holiday party for children who live in Stoneham Housing Authority residences.
